Here’s what I know about book tours: they are equal parts fun and tiring.  I’m coming to the end of my book tour for THE FORBIDDEN ORCHID—just a few more left this month and in June—and I’ve enjoyed every single one.  I’ve loved meeting readers, students, and other young adult writers.  But now I’m looking forward to a spring and summer on the farm working in our brand new vegetable garden and greenhouse (which is in pieces right now, but will be up and running by July), watching my baby goats grow up, and working on my embroidery.  I’m also going to be working on two books at once, which should prove challenging because one is contemporary and the other historical fiction.  So we will see how that goes.  In the meantime below are a few pics from my tour, in no particular order.

In the coming weeks I’ll be posting some photos and videos that pertain to ORCHID, so keep checking back.

Oh, and just fyi, I’ve been keeping a low-profile on social media because I’ve been so busy this spring, and I don’t see that ending soon, so if you want to get in touch please go to the contact me page and fill out the form.  I love to hear from readers and I answer every e-mail so don’t hesitate to write.  Also, I’m still offering signed bookplates, so drop me a note if you’d like one.

Hugs,

Sharon x

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!  So…somewhere on this hunt I’ve hidden my playlist for THE FORBIDDEN ORCHID and the link to music on Spotify.

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are nine contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the TEAL TEAM–but there is also a red team, an orange team, a gold team, a silver team, a green team, a blue team, a purple team, and a pink team for a chance to win a whole different set of books! If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

YASH TEAL TEAM SPRING 2016

SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE

Directions: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden the clue to my favorite number in my blog post, it’s in red. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the TEAL TEAM, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!). Remember, enter the contest to win a ton of books by me and all of the authors on my team. Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the Teal Team and you’ll have the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

Team Teal

Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.

Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by APRIL 3rd, at noon Pacific Time. YASH TEAL TEAM SPRING 2016

I’m so thrilled to be taking part in the Spring 2016 Young Adult Scavenger Hunt.  The “hunt” is a puzzle where you add up numbers.  You visit the website of each team author, write down all the secret numbers, total them, and submit the answer to be entered for the grand prize. There are 9 grand prizes being offered, one for each team (I’m on the teal team). You can participate in and enter the contests for all 9 teams or you can just pick one.  But here is the neato thing: each web post has special content for the hunt and even individual giveaways.  So you’ll get to discover something new about your favorite books and authors.  This all begins on Tuesday, March 29th.   More information and signup forms here: YASH.ROCKS.  It’s free, and it’s open to international hunters!  Go Team Teal!

Here is something neato. My friend Sofi brought my attention to the feminist YA fiction list that the NY Public Library put together. There are so many books on this list that I’ve read or want to read. I’m honored to be included!

Here is the link if you’d like to see the entire list: New York Public Library’s Feminist YA Fiction List
